Super Sapiens Day: The Event for Scientific Project Awards

20 July 2022

The Super Sapiens Day is an event dedicated to celebrating scientific projects with a strong technological foundation that participated in the Call4ideas initiated by Scientifica Venture Capital in May 2022, and will receive investment from this innovative venture capital firm.

The event is scheduled to take place on July 20th at Lanterna Roma, a venue that harmoniously combines the grand antiquity of the eternal city with a visionary touch of contemporary architecture.

Scientifica Venture Capital’s mission is to identify innovative projects rooted in scientific research while highlighting the value of research as a parameter for economic competitiveness.

Having been launched in November 2021, Scientifica Venture Capital has already provided funding to 5 start-ups, which have become integral parts of its portfolio.

Alongside its presence in Rome, the firm is also based in L’Aquila, Abruzzo, where it possesses state-of-the-art laboratories spanning 1,400 square meters. These cutting-edge facilities cater to mechatronics, chemistry, and biotechnology, offering funded start-ups the opportunity to develop their projects and transform them into products or services for international markets. The strong international orientation of the Innovation Hub is further supported by the networking activities carried out at Scientifica Venture Capital’s London office.

The Super Sapiens Day serves as a gathering for key players within the innovation ecosystem, including venture capitalists, institutions, and research centres. It also provides a platform for discussions surrounding the necessity of reversing the trend of ‘Brain Drain.’

The awarded projects, through equity investments from Scientifica Venture Capital, will gain entry to the Scientifica Innovation Hub.

The following individuals will participate as jurors:

  • Emilio Alacevich: Business Developer – Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia
  • Cristina Battaglia: Head of Ufficio Valorizzazione della Ricerca – Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
  • Patrick Leoni Sceti: General Partner – Scientifica Venture Capital
  • Barbara Poggiali: President – Fondo Italiano di Investimento
  • Riccardo D’Alessandri: Managing Partner – Scientifica Venture Capital
  • Paola Inverardi: Professor of Computer Science – Università dell’Aquila
