Scientifica Venture Capital and Lazio Innova: Agreement to Co-Invest in the Innovation and Technology Transfer Ecosystem of Lazio
Scientifica Venture Capital and Innova Venture, the venture capital fund of the Lazio Region managed by Lazio Innova, have entered into a significant partnership to support start-ups in Lazio.These two prominent venture capital investors are combining private and public resources to jointly support innovation in the scientific field and provide researchers with the necessary tools to bring their tech transfer projects to life, with a specific focus on deep tech and hard tech.
Scientifica Venture Capital, a young company formed by industry professionals with a successful track record in implementing technology-based projects through Scientifica Lab’s laboratories and its team of scientists, also boasts a multidisciplinary team of professionals specialized in the development of innovative start-ups and guiding research teams from idea to market. Currently, Scientifica Venture Capital’s portfolio consists of 4 funded start-ups, with the strategic goal of reaching 20 start-ups by the end of 2023.
Lazio Innova, an in-house company of the Lazio Region, which also collaborates with the Chamber of Commerce in Rome, manages financial instruments, programs, and projects that support businesses in the regional territory. This includes the venture capital fund called Innova Venture, which is funded by the resources of the European programming of POR FESR 2014/2020 (www.lazioinnova.it/innovaventure).
The two-year agreement enables joint investments in innovative start-ups or those resulting from technology transfer processes, with operational headquarters in the Lazio region or those interested in establishing operational headquarters in Lazio. These start-ups will be selected by Scientifica Venture Capital and the investment committee of Innova Venture, which includes Stefano Peroncini, Fabio Mondini de Focatiis, and Peter Mayrl.
“With this framework agreement, the Lazio Region reaffirms its commitment to scientific research and its interest in supporting innovative start-ups, enabling the creation of innovative services and technologies and providing support in accessing the market,” said Paolo Orneli, Councillor for Economic Development, Trade and Crafts, University, Research, Start-ups, and Innovation of the Lazio Region.
Riccardo D’Alessandri, managing partner of Scientifica Venture Capital, stated, “We aim to be a reference point as a venture capital operator for financing projects in the pre-seed and seed stages with a high technological component. This agreement confirms our commitment to supporting research activities in the Lazio region as a strategic variable for the competitiveness of economic systems.”
