Small Pixels

The most powerful AI video enhancer
Small Pixels is a deep tech start-up and spin-off from the University of Florence, developing artificial intelligence solutions for real-time video optimisation and quality enhancement.

Founded in 2020 by researchers from the Media Integration and Communication Center, the company stands out for its proprietary neural architectures, specifically designed to operate upstream of the video encoding process.

Small Pixels’ technology enhances perceived video quality while simultaneously reducing bandwidth consumption and storage costs. By eliminating compression artefacts, noise and blur, it delivers sharp, high-quality images even from highly compressed video streams.

Unlike conventional solutions, the company’s technology enhances video signals on a frame-by-frame basis without requiring any changes to existing infrastructure.

Already adopted by broadcasters, OTT services, streaming platforms and organisations operating in security and smart city applications, Small Pixels’ solutions deliver superior video quality, validated through industry-standard benchmarks such as VMAF, while reducing bandwidth requirements by up to 50%. These capabilities are delivered in real time, with latency below 100 milliseconds and full compatibility across any deployment environment, including server-based, edge, mobile and in-camera processing pipelines.
