Silthera

Silence the gene. Power the therapy.
Silthera is a deep tech start-up and spin-off from the University of L’Aquila, specialising in the development of siRNA molecules capable of selectively “silencing” mutated genes responsible for severe rare genetic diseases.

According to the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), more than 400 million people worldwide are affected by rare diseases, over half of whom are children. Around 250 new genetic diseases are also identified each year, yet approximately 95% still have no available curative treatment.

Silthera’s technology is designed to rapidly and accurately identify highly specific siRNA prodrugs capable of silencing only the mutated gene while preserving the healthy one.

Compared with conventional approaches, this technology reduces development time by up to 50% and development costs by 25%. Its modular architecture also makes it highly scalable across hundreds of different diseases, opening new therapeutic opportunities in oncology, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders.

With an innovative approach and a clear vision, Silthera is committed to transforming the treatment of rare genetic diseases, bringing new hope to patients worldwide.
