The AI algorithm for the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder
QuantaBrain is an innovative start-up that aims to enhance the diagnosis process of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders by applying artificial intelligence to brain imaging data.
Through a functional magnetic resonance images processing method QuantaBrain’s proprietary algorithm is able to detect complex biomarkers that characterize the atypical functioning of certain brain regions. This methodology enables the detection of anomalies in the brain functioning of preverbal children in the case of neurodevelopmental disorders. All of this makes the diagnostic procedure early, fast, and objective.
The Deep Learning algorithm created by QuantaBrain uses a 14-second functional magnetic resonance, acquired while the subject is at rest (without sedation) and is able to diagnose ASD with a sensitivity and specificity of 89% and 88% respectively.
