LayerLogic

Faster. Safer. Smarter. Bacteria detection.
LayerLogic is a Swedish deep tech start-up and spin-off from Chalmers University of Technology that has developed a portable graphene field-effect transistor (gFET)-based biosensor designed to transform food safety monitoring.

Food contamination is an increasing threat to public health and a major economic risk for food supply chains. Traditional testing methods are often slow and unsuitable for timely intervention. In this context, LayerLogic provides a new solution for real-time food quality monitoring.

By functionalising graphene with selective receptor molecules, LayerLogic’s proprietary biosensor enables the rapid and accurate detection of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other contaminants in less than 15 minutes, compared with the two to four days typically required by conventional testing methods. Compact and portable, the device is designed to be integrated directly into production lines.

Leveraging its proprietary technology, LayerLogic also aims to expand the biosensor’s applications to water quality monitoring and agricultural diagnostics, contributing to safer, more sustainable, and more resilient food production.
