Sabbatical is a permanent call for ideas, designed to appeal to innovators and push them from dreaming into action.
The goal is to enable anyone with a long-cherished dream to take a study break or to take time off work in order to participate in the programme, which is aimed at growing their idea from seed into an innovative start-up.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?
Employees with an academic or professional background in R&D, Undergraduates, University researchers
WHAT DOCUMENTS DO YOU NEED?
Some projects are only at the seed stage, in which case all you need is a descriptive text outlining the main characteristics.
WHICH AREAS CAN THE PROJECTS COME FROM?
The projects must be aligned with the pillars of Scientifica Venture Capital: advanced manufacturing, advanced materials and artificial intelligence.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR PROJECT IS SELECTED?
Scientifica Venture Capital provides a ticket for a maximum of EUR 250,000 and will include the project initiator in the 12-month incubation programme in order to develop the idea.
WHEN DOES THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING PROJECTS EXPIRE?
Never! Sabbatical year is a permanent call so you can submit your idea to us at any time.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
- If the incubation process is successful, further investment by Scientifica Venture Capital or other investors may be considered.
- If the incubation process is not successful – or if the initiator wants to return to their previous job – Scientifica Venture Capital will continue to convert the idea into a product or service by capitalising on the know-how acquired in the previous 12 months.
