The University of Messina, through its 12 departments, including the Department of Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences and the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, Physical Sciences and Earth Sciences, is committed to enhancing research by promoting dialogue and direct interaction with society to create synergies between academia, society, institutions and businesses.

The University’s primary purposes are research, teaching and third mission. Research activities are aimed at the promotion and development of advanced research projects, including interdisciplinary ones, and also in collaboration with international universities and research centers.
