The National Interuniversity Consortium for Materials Science and Technology is the largest consortium in Italy, grouping 52 Italian universities, which conduct research activities in the field of materials science and technology.

The INSTM Consortium provides the appropriate organizational, technical and financial support to promote research activity in the consortium member universities and coordinates competencies capable, on the one hand, of addressing, at the highest level of competitiveness, innovative research projects also in support of the needs of the Italian entrepreneurial fabric, and, on the other hand, of supporting initiatives aimed at the development of technology transfer, offering companies significant and effective opportunities for interaction with the academic world.
