Scuola Normale Superiore

The Scuola Normale Superiore is a university institute with special regulations, whose prestige in the field of research and education is internationally recognised.
The research activities, carried out within the Institute, are articulated on the basis of the nine historical disciplines studied at Normale: including Mathematics and Computer Science; Physics; Chemistry and Geology; Biological Sciences.
Laboratories and Centres include NEST, the National Enterprise for nanoScience and nanoTechnology. An interdisciplinary research and training center where researchers from physics, chemistry and biology investigate matter at the nanoscale. The knowledge gained is used to develop new nanobiotechnological systems, devices and nanoelectronic and photonic architectures.
NEST comprises four different institutions: Scuola Normale Superiore, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
